Imerovigli in Santorini has to be one of the prettiest places in the Greek islands. Perched on top of a cliff Imerovigli overlooks the volcanic islets of Nea Kameni, Palea Kameni and Thirassia.

Imerovigli is found in between Fira, the capital of Santorini and the gorgeous Oia. It's a great location to act as a base to visit the other surrounding villages and beach resorts throughout the island.
The village of Imerovigli has a wonderful view of a ruined Venetian castle atop the giant rock named Skaros. Shaken badly by earthquake the romantic ruined castle draws visitors to admire its rugged beauty and to watch in wonder the famous Santorini sunset. The castle is well worth a visit as it dates back to the 13th century and guarded successfully threats from attack for 600 years. Follow the old path from Imerovigli to Skaros Rock to view the Venetian fortress. Don't forget to visit one of the nearby Santorini Wineries for wine tasting and picking up some bargains. You can find Sigalas Winery at nearby Oia. Time your visit just right and you could be toasting the spectacular sunset view from the Sigalas winery patio with the finest wines Santorini produces. The famous Santorini sunset is spectacular when viewed from Oia. You'll also find in and around Imerovigli several little churches and chapels. The Church of the Panagia Malteza is adorned with carved wood panels inlaid with gold icons and well worth a visit. It gets its name from an icon that was found in the sea close to Malta. The church of Agios Ioannis (Saint John) is also found in Imerovigli. The feast day for the church is the 29th of August when the locals have a feast with plenty of delicious food and Santorini wine, traditional Greek dancing and music. Visitors are made very welcome.
