Flights to Santorini
FLIGHTS TO SANTORINI |
Santorini has its own international airport and is easily accessed via Athens Airport or Thessaloniki Airport on mainland Greece from Australia, USA and Canada.
Olympic Airlines and Aegean Airlines have frequent flights to Santorini airport from Athens.
SkyExpress also have domestic flights and fly to and from other Greek Islands such as Mykonos, Rhodes and Crete making Greek Island hopping by air simple and fun.
There are plenty of charter direct flights to Santorini from the UK and many other European Airports during the summer months making getting to Santorini easy.
If you're lucky you can sometimes get cheap flights from London Gatwick and Manchester Airport to Santorini Airport via Thomson Fly.com
Santorini Airport itself is quite small and the terminal can be very cramped and hot at the height of the season. The runway is also very short which always tests the aptitude of pilots flying into and out of Santorini airport.

If you are not on a package holiday with transfers as part of the deal you can leave the airport by hire car, taxi or bus. The buses are not very frequent though and at busy summer times the queues at the Taxi rank can be quite long.
There are some car rental companies with kiosks just off the arrivals area or you can book a rental car in advance.
Ferries to Santorini

A romantic way to of getting to Santorini is by sea. There's not much that can beat the spectacular sight of imposing cliff top Fira overlooking the Caldera as you approach the port by ferry. You will be met by the famous Santorini donkeys if you choose travel to Santorini this way.
They are to take you up the steep cliff side if you cannot make it by your own speed. Or you can take the cable car and have a great view in relative comfort as you ascend to the top of the cliff.
FERRIES TO SANTORINI |
Hydrofoils and ferries to Santorini are plentiful from Athens (Piraeus Port)and Thessaloniki on mainland Greece. They take between 7 - 9 hours depending on their ports of call, size and type of ferry.
There are also lots of ferries to and from other Greek Islands including Mykonos, Naxos, Paros and Crete. This makes Greek Island hopping easy and fun.
